Agriculture experiences rapid changes due to advances in technology. The introduction of mechanical equipment caused the first agricultural revolution. Agriculture is moving into the information age, where data are collected and analyzed to improve production and quality. Internet of Things (IoT) plays an essential role in innovative developments. This paper introduces the use of Design Thinking (DT) to create innovative solutions for agriculture and food processing. DT is well suited for multidisciplinary teams. An ongoing project is presented where agriculture and technology students meet farmers and other stakeholders in a summer school setting to learn from each other and innovate together. DT is used as the framework for innovation and co-creation.
