Når ett hjem blir til to. Skolehelsetjenestens erfaring med skilsmissebarn i skolen
Abstract
Særlig to funn er sentrale. Many children experience their parents separating. Divorce can manifest itself in several ways. Amongst them is that children can become symptom carriers. The school counts as an arena where children spend a lot of time and aims to work preventively with children. Especially the school nurse aims to create mastery and coping strategies. Divorce groups has been established to gather children with divorced parents. In the groups, the children can meet others in the same situation and at the same time collect good advice from the adults and from each other. The goal of this thesis is to get a look at how the school health staff perceives and looks after children of divorce. The problem statements in this thesis consists of two questions are as follows:
* What experiences do the school health service have with children of divorce in primaryschool, and how they are coping?
* How do they experience how children benefit from the divorce groups in school?
The assignments has its theoretical foundation linked up to Antonovskys salutogenesis with the purpose to look into how the children can achieve mastery and strategies in spite of their challenging situation. In addition, the role play theory of Goffman has shown how the groups works for the children and what unfolds within the groups.
The assignment has a qualitative design and is based on four interviews. The selection involves three school nurses and one social teacher. They all have experience with divorce groups and have been, or are currently working in a primary school.
Two findings are central. The informants observe that the children are symptoms carriers of their parents’ divorce. This presents itself through conversations with symptoms such as tiredness and stomach aches. The loyalty conflict is an important concept which takes into consideration the children’s position in the middle of the parents’ conflict. Also, the informants claim that the divorce groups are essential to create a feeling of community and safety. It’s reported that the children use the groups to share experiences and listen to others. The findings shows that its important to continue to focus on looking after children of divorce. The divorce groups are a good contribution to the children as they can seek strategies and feel less alone.
