dc.description.abstract | Sammendrag
Bakgrunn: Artikkelforfatterne utarbeidet en kunnskapsbasert rutinesjekkliste for perioperativ
anestesi.
kunnskapsbasert rutinesjekkliste i praksis.
for anestesisykepleiere.

Background: The authors of this article developed a knowledge-based routine checklist for
perioperative anesthesia. The idea behind the study was to implement the checklist as a cognitive aid
for anesthesia nursing students, to see if it could help them sort and structure the implementation of
all phases of a general anesthesia.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate how anesthesia nursing students experienced
using a knowledge-based routine checklist in practice.
Methods: The study has a qualitative descriptive design and includes seven individual interviews of
anesthesia nursing students. The analysis was carried out using Malterud's systematic text
condensation.
Results: All participants had opinions about when the checklist should have been distributed.
Furthermore, the participants talked about positive experiences with the use of the checklist, about
the importance of time and space, and gave feedback regarding ease of use.
Conclusion: By implementing a routine checklist as a cognitive aid, it can result in anesthesia nursing
students remembering tasks they have to perform, avoiding forgetting essential equipment and it can
strengthen their situational awareness. Since the checklist can reduce stressors for students during the
internship, it will be beneficial for the learning process, and the authors of this article propose an
implementation of the routine checklist for perioperative anesthesia into the education program for
anesthesia nurses.
