"Har woke blitt en joke?": Hvordan oppfatter ungdom "woke- kulturen" på tvers av politisk tilhørighet i dagens Norge?

Abstract

Denne mastergradsavhandlingen er et kvantitativt studie med utgangspunkt i fem dybdeintervjuer fra informanter som tilhører generasjon Z og representerer hvert sitt politiske ståsted. Gjennom deres ideologiske prinsippgrunnlag drøfter de hva «woke» betyr for dem, fenomenets aktualitet i Norge, og nødvendigheten av statens innblanding til å opprettholde mangfold og inkludering i næringslivet, på sosiale medier, og ellers i samfunnet.

I avhandlingen kan man lese om de ulike oppfatningene av frihetsbegrepet på tvers av politisk- ideologiske prinsipper, myndighetenes tiltak i tråd med sosialliberale grunnpilarer som diskrimineringslov og kjønnskvotering, samt hvordan ulike ungdomspolitikere ser den polariserte woke- debatten i Norge og hvorfor flere ønsker å ta avstand fra en bevegelse som i utgangspunktet skal verne om minoriteters rettigheter.

This master's thesis is a quantitative study based on five in-depth interviews from informants who belong to generation Z and each represent their own political point of view. Through their ideological principles, they discuss what "woke" means to them, the topicality of the phenomenon in Norway, and the necessity of the state's intervention to maintain diversity and inclusion in the business world, on social media, and otherwise in the society.

In the dissertation, you can read about the different perceptions of the concept of freedom across political-ideological principles, the authorities' measures in line with social liberal pillars such as discrimination laws and gender quotas, as well as how different youth politicians see the polarized woke debate in Norway and why more people want to distance themselves from a movement which should protect the rights of minorities.
