Sammendrag
Unemployment among immigrants in Norway still tends to be higher than the natives. Much research investigates immigrants’ experiences interacting with the Norwegian labour market. In other words, few studies have investigated the challenges organisations perceive regarding assisting immigrants to enter the Norwegian labour market. The scope of this thesis is a case study with two specific recruitment organisations representing the public and private sectors, NAV and Manpower. Primary data was collected through qualitative in-depth interviews with both organisations, whereas secondary data was collected through a literature review. Considering that, the literature review represents this thesis’s conceptual framework. Furthermore, this thesis aims to gain greater insight into the employer’s experiences, add to a growing literature, and contribute to practical knowledge gain. The study can help raise awareness and discussions about potential avenues for enhancing and expanding the involvement of immigrants in the labour market. The level of language proficiency, prejudice and cultural differences appear to be the main challenges for both organisations’ sectors in assisting immigrants into the labour market. Additionally, this study sees the importance of examining measures provided by different sectors and businesses in aiding immigrants.
