Carbon dioxide reduction measures and advanced shipping solutions in the maritime industry. Thesis emphasizes the importance of these measures in mitigating climate change and reducing carbon emissions. Various strategies are discussed, such as enhancing energy efficiency, using renewable energy sources, implementing carbon capture and storage technology, reducing deforestation, promoting sustainable transportation, and implementing carbon pricing. The concept of advanced shipping solutions is introduced, including the use of autonomous vessels, big data analytics, clean energy sources, and new business models. The maritime industry's responsibility to address carbon emissions and adopt these solutions is highlighted, considering environmental, regulatory, economic, and reputational factors. The challenges related to implementation, such as cost, efficiency, and productivity, are outlined. The impacts and costs of these challenges are discussed, including capital and commercial issues, accidents and health risks, social and environmental impacts, and regulatory compliance. The role of carbon reduction awards and incentives in encouraging adoption is explained. The goal of the thesis is defined as analyzing the challenges and opportunities of implementing these measures and solutions, with a focus on efficiency and productivity, and providing insights for stakeholders in the maritime industry.
