Innsette i fengsel si oppleving av helseinformasjon og oral helseinformasjon i relasjon til eiga opplevde helse og oral helse: ein kvalitativ studie.

Abstract

Føremålet til masteroppgåva var å undersøke korleis innsette i fengsel oppleve helseinformasjon. Oppgåva består av ein artikkel med ein tilhøyrande fordjupingsdel (kappe). Artikkelen er skrive i tråd med retningslinjene for publisering i det vitskaplege tidsskriftet International Journal of Prisoner Health med Harvard referansestil. Kappa er skrive etter Universitetet i Søraust-Norge sine retningslinjer med Apa 7th referansestil. Artikkelen er presentert fyrst. Kappa som fylgjer går djupare inn på teoriane tilknytt studien, dei metodologiske vala, og til slutt diskusjon rundt studien sine sentrale funn, kunnskapsbidraget til fagområdet og dei metodologiske avgrensingane.

Hensikt: Studia hadde som mål å undersøke korleis innsette opplevde å få tak i, forstå og evaluera helse- og oral helseinformasjon i relasjon til eiga opplevd helse og oral helse.

Metode: Tolv innsette i eit høgrisikofengsel og ein overgangsbolig deltok i eit semistrukturert intervju. Tematisk analyse vart nytta for analyse.

Funn: Den tematiske analysen identifiserte seks tema: inkonsistent rapportering av general og oral helse, autonom helse åtferd, bruk av personlege ressursar, tilpassa helseinformasjon, nærheit og tilgjengelegheit.

Originalitet: Dette er ein av dei fyrste studiane som har undersøkt korleis innsette tileigna seg, forstod og evaluerte helseinformasjon, og korleis det påverka deira helseval, og bruk av helsetenester. Funna kan bidra til å forstå korleis helsetenester og helseinformasjon kan reorganiserast for å bli lettare tilgjengeleg for ei sårbar gruppe.

This master’s thesis aimed to explore how prisoners experienced health information. The thesis consists of a scientific article with a separate in-depth section (cape). The scientific article is written in line with the guidelines for publishing in the International Journal of Prisoner Health with Harvard reference style. The in-dept section is written according to the University of South-Eastern Norway guidelines with Apa 7 th reference style. Presented first is the journal article. The in-depth section that follows goes deeper into the theories associated with the study, the methodical choices, and in the end, a discussion around the central findings of the study, the knowledge contribution to the field, and the methodical limits.

Purpose: This study explored how prisoners gain, understand, and evaluate health and oral health information in relation to perceived general and oral health. Design/methodology/approach: Twelve prisoners in a high-security prison and a halfway house participated in a semi-structured interview. The qualitative data were guided by thematic analysis.

Findings: The qualitative data analysis identified six themes: inconsistent reported health, autonomous health behavior, utilizing personal resources, tailored health information, proximity, and accessibility.

Originality/value: This study is among the first to explore how prisoners gained, understood, and evaluated health information, and how this affected their health choices and use of health- and dental health services. The findings may contribute to understanding how health services and health information can be reorganized and offered more accessibly for a vulnerable group.
