Abstract
Global warming is an increasing challenge globally, which makes us investigate alternative energy sources. Renewable sources from agricultural, forestry, industries and households are all potential energy sources. At the present stage we have not been able to utilize the full potential from these sources. Pelletization of this heterogeneous material can increase the energy density and make the more accessible for energy utilization. In this thesis I have performed a literature survey covering the potential of different wastes and technology available for pelletization.
Many different studies have been performed on this subject, but still the woody alternatives are the most used and utilized according to pellet quality.
Binders in the pelletization process needs to be assessed in a case-by-case study and according to availability of the binder geographically.
The pelletization process of different raw material consists of mainly the same equipment, but adjustments can be made according to the present raw material.
