The generation and transmission of sampled value IEC 61850-9-2 signal according to the abstract specifications of IEC 61850-7-2 subsection is never overrated. The communication pattern initiated from the instrument devices installed in the processing yard to the intelligent electronic devices situated at the bay level of a digital substation via merging unit, with meticulously defined protocols, maintains the integrity of the communication sequence in the digital substation. This project topic (generating and capturing IEC 61850-9-2 sampled value measurement for data analysis) leans towards investigating the suitability, reliability, and time-dependency of the simulation and capturing tools/techniques in achieving substantial results. The research goal was achieved by utilizing several approaches and capturing methods in line with the literature study. The SVM signal was transmitted via Typhoon HIL SCADA, captured using Wireshark software, and decoded with Python simulation tool for analysis. The research proves that the overall three-phase SVM signal (Python simulation) behavior matches that of the reference signal via Typhoon HIL SCADA except for the unusual signal deformation at some random point in the simulation time. It signifies possible packet loss from Wireshark packet SVM.
