Implementing blockchain technology in the Shipping industry, with the focus on Norwegian Maritime Sector

Abstract

The maritime sector is an important part of the world's economy that is constantly changing based on various factors. One of the biggest transformations that the maritime sector is facing these days is the process of using digital technology based on Blockchain.

This paper will try to give an overview of the way Blockchain technology works, as well as talk about barriers and opportunities that this technology can bring to the Maritime sector, and lastly cover the potentials of using it in the Norwegian Maritime industry. The method of data analysis that will be used in the research is based on a qualitative research approach, where the comparative case method and systematic literature review were key analytical tools.
