Anaerobic digestion is a process typically used for the reduction of the organic load from sludge, with known advantages over other traditional processes being an energy producer in form of biogas. The economic viability of these plants is proportional to the amount of biogas produced by unit of substrate, whereby diverse initiatives have been implemented to increase the effectiveness of AD; among others the improvement of the pretreatment and the design of new reactors. It has been confirmed that the addition of small quantities nitrate ion increases the digestibility of the COD source. The purpose of this study is to replicate the operational conditions of a CSTR with temperature control in lab scale, to evaluate the yield of biogas production and efficiency with the addition of small quantities of Ca(NO3)2, keeping track on parameters as COD, pH and ORP to observe the evolution of the microorganism behavior and the biogas production.nb_NO
