Background: Open dialogue in network meetings is implemented as an opportunity for all patiens in a psyciatric hospital. This approach is dialogue-based and focused on the equal encounter between people. The source of inspiration and the theoretical basis is the research of Jakko Seikkula in Finland. This research concerns Open dialogue in network meetings and the principle is used as a procedure in all kinds of psychological crisis and before hospitalisations. Purpose: The aim of this study is to increase knowledge about the experience of the patients and relatives with Open dialogue in network meetings in a closed psychiatric ward. The approach has been used in other contexts in psychiatric treatment. More knowledge about this approach in closed psychiatric ward is needed. Methods: The design of the research is described as qualitative with an exploratory and descriptive approach. Patients and dependents who have been participants in network meetings has given written feedback on their experience with Open dialogue in network meetings. Data creation is done with a text analysis of the written feedback. Data analysis is based on a fenomenological-hermeneutic approach. Results: The results of the study are presented in three main topics: 1. Possibilities in Open dialogue 2. Experience of equality in networksmeeting 3. Hope of recovery and future perspective. Conclusion: This study shows that Open dialogue in network meetings is relevant for practice in a psychiatric hospital. In this context patients and their families are experiencing the certain approach as helpful. On this basis more knowledge about this approach is needed
