Dialectic behavior therapy (DBT) and treatment experiences from group treatment of adolescents using DBT are presented. Five patients aged 15-19 completed treatment and were interviewed before and 3 months after the treatment period. The adolescents reported fewer suicide attempts and incidences of self-harm behavior, and more adaptive strategies replacing earlier dysfunctional behaviors during treatment and in the following 3 months period. One of five reported a decrease in general symptom level (SCL- 90-R). However, all reported reduction in experienced problem-related distress and would recommend this treatment to other adolescents. DBT appears to be applicable in a Norwegian context.
