dc.description.abstractIntroduksjon: Forskning viser at en stor andel barn og foreldre er engstelige før innledning av anestesi. Dette kan få konsekvenser for barnet i form av atferdsproblemer. Tidligere forskning om samspill mellom foreldre og anestesipersonell er noe mangelfull. Hensikt: Hensikten med studien var å øke kunnskapen om foreldres rolle under innledning av anestesi til barn. Følgende problemstilling ble valgt for studien: “Hvordan opplever anestesisykepleiere foreldres rolle under innledning av anestesi til barn?" Metode: Det ble valgt et kvalitativt design med semistrukturelle individuelle intervjuer. Syv anestesisykepleiere med minimum tre års erfaring innenfor barneanestesi ble rekruttert fra to helseforetak. For opptak av intervjuene ble UiO sin diktafon app brukt. Dataene ble transkribert ved hjelp av nettskjema. Informantene skrev under informert samtykke. Analysemetoden som ble brukt var Graneheim og Lundmans kvalitative innholdsanalyse. Resultater: Analysen av data resulterte i et hovedtema: “superhelter i fremmed landskap”. Det ble utviklet tre hovedkategorier med tilhørende underkategorier. Anestesisykepleierne erfarte at foreldre kunne skape trygge rammer for barnet ved innledning av anestesi. De kunne være en ressurs om de var godt forberedt og informerte på forhånd. Opplevelsen til anestesisykepleierne var at trygge foreldre formidlet trygghet til barnet og foreldres største ressurs var at de kjente barnet sitt. Anestesisykepleierne gav utrykk for at foreldre hadde behov for støtte for å finne sin plass på operasjonsstuen, slik at de kunne få bidra med sine ressurser inn i situasjonen. Anestesisykepleieren hadde en viktig rolle i å inkludere foreldrene og informere underveis om hva som skulle skje. Anestesisykepleierne hadde en opplevelse av at foreldre kunne kjenne på gjennomføringspress og ydmykhet ovenfor helsevesenet. Anestesisykepleierne erfarte at foreldre ikke alltid handlet til det beste for barnet. Angst og usikkerhet kunne føre til at foreldrene ikke bidro som støtte. Foreldres uttrykk og handlinger kunne være ødeleggende for relasjonen anestesisykepleieren allerede hadde etablert med barnet. Kulturelle forskjeller kunne gjøre samspillet mellom anestesisykepleier, foreldre og barn utfordrende. Anestesisykepleier og foreldre kunne ha ulike syn på tvang og det kunne være uenighet om grenser. Konklusjon: Opplevelsene til anestesisykepleierne var at foreldre ofte kunne skape trygge rammer og være en god ressurs for barnet ved innledning av anestesi. Samtidig kunne foreldrene være sårbare i et fremmed landskap og ikke alltid handle til det beste for barnet.
dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Research shows that a large proportion of children and parents are anxious prior to the induction of anaesthesia. This can have consequences for the child in the form of behavioural problems. There is little research on the interaction between parents and anaesthesia personnel. Purpose: The aim of this study was to increase knowledge about the role of parents during the induction of anaesthesia in children. The following research question was chosen for the study: "How do nurse anaesthetists experience the role of parents during the induction of anaesthesia in children?" Method: A qualitative design was chosen with semi-structural individual interviews. Seven nurse anaesthetists with a minimum of three years`experience in paediatric anaesthesia were recruited from two healthcare trusts. UiO's Nettskjema dictaphone app was used for recording and transcribing the interviews. Informed consent was obtained from the informants. Graneheim and Lundman's method of qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: The data analysis resulted in one main theme: “superheroes navigating a foreign landscape”. Three main categories were developed with associated subcategories. The nurse anaesthetists experienced that parents could create a safe environment for the child when inducting anaesthesia. They could be very helpful if they were well prepared and informed in advance. The experience of the nurse anaesthetists was that confident parents conveyed security to the child, and the parents' greatest asset was that they knew their child. The nurse anaesthetists experienced that parents needed support to find their place in the operating room, so that they could utilize their resources in the situation. The nurse anaesthetist played an important role in including the parents and informing them along the way about what was going to happen. The nurse anaesthetists felt that parents could feel under pressure to carry out the procedure and humble in the face of the health service. The nurse anaesthetists found that parents did not always act in the best interests of the child. Anxiety and uncertainty could lead to the parents not being supportive. Parents' expressions and actions could impinge on the relationship the nurse anaesthetist had already established with the child. Cultural differences could make the interaction between nurse anaesthetists, parents and children challenging. Nurse anaesthetists and parents could have different views on coercion, and there could be disagreement about boundaries. Conclusion: The experience of the nurse anaesthetists was that parents were often able to create a safe environment and provide support for the child during the induction of anaesthesia. At the same time, feel vulnerable navigating a foreign landscape and they did not always act in the best interests of the child.
