Technology Readiness Level (TRL) is commonly used to evaluate the maturity of the technology in research and development projects. For this paper, a literature study has been performed in combination with a survey, to try to understand whether and how TRLs are used. Existing knowledge on the value of TRL will be collated and reviewed. It will also be considered to what degree the TRL evaluations are suitable for small organizations without separately trained and skilled readiness assessment personnel.nb_NO
