Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BLEVE) has caused many accidents in industry, while research with BLEVE is still limited with scarcity of experimental data. Among all pressurized liquefied gases (PLGs), CO2 plays an important role in industry. The risk of a BLEVE caused by CO2 must be reduced during its storage and transportation. For this purpose, laboratory study has been performed for a deeper understanding of CO2 BLEVE on its formation and prevention. A few insights have been achieved from the work with quantitative analysis of experimental data. Several possibilities of further research have also been recommended, with a same purpose of unveiling the mechanism of CO2 BLEVE and increasing the safety during storage and transportation of CO2.
